Iranian National Observatory review meeting was held at IPM involving 12 experts in design, construction, and management of large ground-based telescopes.
To evaluate and review the progress in INO project management and telescope design, including mechanics, electronics, optics and control, a 5-days review meeting was held in Iran. The review began with a site visit to Mount Gargash followed by day long discussion sessions at IPM in Tehran, during which INO management and engineering teams and the panel discussed various aspects of the project in details. INO team had provided over 80 design documents for review few weeks before the panel visit. Prof. Gerry Gilmore, (University of Cambridge) and chair of the INO International Advisory Board and Prof. Lorenzo Zago (HEIG-VD, Switzerland), the chair of the technical review, coordinated the review in both aspects of the management and the technical review. 9 scientists and engineers from ESO, GTC and LBT, UKATC and SALT were among the referees who visited INO as part of the review.
As an outcome of this meeting, the construction of the dome and the primary mirror cell will be a priority for the INO project.
